Art Quests
Welcome to Thunderbird School Art Quests! Our initiatives are co-creative group endeavors with the purpose of producing worthwhile pieces of art and seeing them installed in a predetermined venue. We work with a specific site in mind, which helps us develop a collective vision and guide the creation of our artwork.
A Thunderbird School Art Quest is a perfect project for any age group. It teaches cooperation and doesn’t leave anybody feeling unaccomplished. In the end, everyone is an artist! The size of the painting depends on the venue and the number of participants, but bigger is better. The project could be done also on other supporting objects (plywood, canoe, wall, shed). We have facilitated quests for every age group, from pre-kindergarten classes to Senior Citizen groups.

Our promotional materials and website provide detailed information about the goals, schedule, and requirements for the initiative. Our team is dedicated to teaching students about the art of vision, shamanistic attitudes and perspectives, tips and practices to focus attention, visualization experiments, composition and symbolism, materials, painting techniques, the development process, and completing and interpreting the work.
The cost of project materials for a painting on canvas is included in the initiative. High quality prints and posters of the finished piece will be available for purchase after the quest. Each participant will receive a Certificate of Participation.
Thunderbird School Art Quests follow a structured process to ensure a successful outcome. The five steps to victory are as follows:
Step one (one session):
- (a) Brainstorming and determining the venue and the topic of the art piece.
- (b) Practice drawing individual compositions for the collective art piece.
- (c) Co-creating the background for the painting.
Step two (2-4 sessions):
Painting individual parts into the group project.
Step three (one session or omitted for smaller kids – we will do it):
Finishing the painting by filling in, black lining and balancing the overall composition.
Step four (one session):
Stretching the painting and signing by the artists.
Step five:
Installation of the art at the destination venue.
